Liviu Roman removed and replaced an ageing cedar deck for us and we were extremely pleased with his work. My husband and I were impressed with the knowledge he had of the various decking materials and their pros and cons. The bit he submitted was clear and the price reasonable. I want to take this opportunity to personally thank Liviu Roman, the owner of Colonial Decks and Fences and give a personal testimonial as to the quality of his work. Mr. Roman custom-built a beautiful 100 ft cedar fence for me in two days! He owns the company, bids on the work, and is the primary builder (he does it right with no shortcuts). He wants to live “the American Dream” by having his own company; I can assure you he will make it because of his work ethic. No multiple layer organization – just one person (and partner Pete) from start to finish.
His original price quote over the phone was the exact quote we went with on the bid. I called four companies before him and each time they all said: “our quote person is out, can I take your name and number, and he will be back to you as soon as possible”. I just wanted to get a rough estimate over the phone. After calling Colonial Decks and Fences, Liviu offered me a price quote and met me within 12 minutes at my home in West Linn. His price was very reasonable and the craftsmanship and professionalism of his company was/is impeccable. The fence was difficult to build (on a slope through a bamboo forest and behind a shed). He said he would have the fence built by Weds but he was able to complete the entire job a day early. Each time I called he answered the phone personally and kept me abreast of the project. He even informed me that he would be leaving the job for 2 hours on Monday while he went to the hospital with his wife for an ultrasound (congratulations!). What more can you ask for from your contractor? I had to change design options on the fly and trusted his decisions every step of the way. I give him a five-star rating for service, quality, and timeliness. He has already bid on other projects in the neighborhood and everyone agrees with my assessment of his company.
